Wednesday Night Racing (2012)

All FPYC members are welcome to come out Wednesday nights at 6:30pm and race!  Race in your own boat or crew on another boat.  Races are followed by some socializing with an evening BBQ after the race.  You don't need to register.  Racing is included in your membership fee.  All  are welcome.
Racing at  FPYC is also open to members of HBCN club, and FPYC members are welcome at HBCN racing on Tuesday evening.
Racing will be in two separate fleets with different courses for white sail (main & Jib) and flying sail (spinnaker). The white sail fleet will use a simplified rules of racing for cruising sailboats, in order to encourage cruising sailboats to participate.
FPYC is also promoting the WOW (women on water ) OW (on Wednesday) WOWOW. Women skippers and crew are encouraged to join in the fun in the white sail fleet on wednesday evening.

Wednesday night racing will be raced in three series. There will be a June series, a July series and August series. There will be 4 races in each series except August which will have 5.  This make it easier for owners and crew to take vacations and still participate in series racing.

In May we will run wednesday night practice races, also starting at 6:30pm.
We will also be introducing a mentor program for those whoneed some assistance in getting started. We also have a crew bank if you are short of crew.

CREW for 2012
Bring a lifejacket, a warm wind breaker and soft, non-marking shoes. We usually congregate by the D-dock shelter around 5:30 and try to be on the water by 6:00. If you would like to crew  send an e-mail to FPYC.Racing@gmail.com stating that you would like to crew, and give your contact information.

BBQ
Following the racing, we will meet at the D-dock shelter for a social BBQ.  Each week, a different boat will be in charge of the BBQ. If you'd like to volunteer for the duties, please send an email to FPYC.Racing@gmail.com

Simplified Racing
In order to encourage new racers we have developed a simple set of instructions (see 'Simplified racing rules' below in the download section).
We will also be running numerous simple racing rules information sessions to clarify any questions that you may have as a novice racer.
