Wednesday Night Racing (2013) The first meeting is the BBQ on Wednesday 15th May 2013 (6:30pm), and will also include a review of the new racing rules of sailing. Practice races will be held May 22 and 29th, with the series racing running each wednesday through the summer. (see details below).
GHYRA Regatta (2013) FPYC is a member club of GHYRA (Golden Horseshoe Yacht Racing Association). This group hosted the summer 2012 regatta week, where racing and cruising boats raced and or cruised between the member clubs. A similar event is being scheduled for 2013 and will visit FPYC on July 10th 2013. (see website for details www.ghyra.org). The July 10th stop-over at FiftyPoint will be hosted by FPYC and Newport yacht clubs.
Peaches and PHRF Regatta (2012) More information is available at: www.fpyc.ca/pnpreg.htm follow link to Peaches & PHRF regatta. (see menu on left side of screen). The 2013 event will be hosted by our neighbour club, Newport Yacht Club.
MID-WEEK EVENING CLUB RACING All FPYC members are welcome to come out Wednesday nights at 6:30pm and race! Race in your own boat or crew on another boat. Races are followed by some socializing with an evening BBQ after the race. You don't need to register, (but you will if you want to be scored for the series). Racing is included in your membership fee. All are welcome. Racing at FPYC is also open to members of Newport Yacht club. Racing will be in one start, and scored according to PHRF handicap system. The white sail fleet will use a simplified rules of racing for cruising sailboats, in order to encourage cruising sailboats to participate. We will also be offering flying sails scored under PHRF. FPYC is also promoting the WOW (women on water ) OW (on Wednesday) WOWOW. Women skippers and crew are encouraged to join in the fun in the fleet on wednesday evening.
Tuesday night racing is also offered with our neighbour club Newport YC. There will be no charge for fully paid up FPYC members, but you must provide a copy of your valid insurance.
Wednesday night racing will be raced in three series. There will be a June series, a July series and August series. There will be 4 races in each series . This make it easier for owners and crew to take vacations and still participate in series racing.
We will also be introducing a mentor program for those who need some assistance in getting started. We also have a crew bank if you are short of crew.
First summer series race starts June 5th, and continues to end of June. Second summer series starts begining July and runs each wednesday to end of July. The final summer series is from begining August to early September.
